Reil Well Yoga

Kate Reil first came to yoga as a curious teenager having no idea how deeply she would fall in love with the practice.

In the following 20 years, yoga has become a through-line in all of her endeavors, and a sanctuary within that nourishes her visions and dreams.

Yoga Style

Kate’s classes are an eclectic blend of her teachers’ wisdom plus fresh inspirations she picks up along the way. Her teaching is spacious with plenty of room for modifications and invites you to arrive just how you are.

You can often expect to begin on the ground, moving slowly with SATYA and floorwork, regulating your nervous system and tuning in to what is available right now.

From there, Kate develops a steady flow to heat the body and move with breath rhythms.

Props are used often to refine the focus in your postures and build the ground up to you. Throughout class, you will develop the capacity to listen with your whole being and show up for yourself moment by moment.

Kate’s Training & Yoga Background

Kate started teaching yoga in New York City in 2006 and crisscrossed every borough, offering practices to adults and youth of all ages in studios, parks, schools, prisons, people’s homes, community centers, domestic violence shelters and more.

For nearly a decade, she worked at Little Flower Yoga teaching yoga and mindfulness practices to schools and community organizations. Kate also coached fellow teachers to rise into the best version of themselves so everyone in the classroom can thrive, and traveled the country training future teachers to do the same.

Currently, Kate teaches at Bend & Bloom Yoga where she has been since the studio opened in 2008, and is honored to call the studio her home base. She treasures her students, and is deeply moved to be able to share this practice with the Bend & Bloom Yoga community.

Kate has had many phenomenal teachers along the way and is ever grateful to each one. Schuyler Grant and Nikki Vilella (and the whole Kula Yoga crew) taught her how to sequence creatively with intelligence, bringing together asana, bandha, and pranayama, within the structure of vigorous vinyasa.

Tias Little of Prajna Yoga gifted Kate with a practice of longevity; one that physically expands somatic awareness of the subtle body and ultimately reveals the vast cave of the heart through meditation.

Nikki Costello is a rare gem; she reminds Kate to practice cultivating community in each room and how meaningful this practice is when shared with fellow teachers. Nikki’s focus and attention to detail radiate in all directions, and taught Kate to see with new eyes— both in her own practice and that of her students.
