We believe healthcare is a human right, and are committed to making it more accessible for all.

Reil Well is a strong advocate for universal healthcare. Until we get there as a country, we are committed to making these healing modalities more accessible.

Many of us have complex relationships with money— ones that we likely inherited from our families— that are further shaped by the burdens of living under capitalism and that intersect with other forms of systemic oppression.

Reil Well believes that healing belongs to everyone. Through examining her own relationship with money, Reil Well founder Kate Reil chooses to practice with a sliding scale model. This means a couple of things: being able to support a wider range of people and getting to be involved in true community care.

The shortest version of what community care means to Kate is: you and I are well when we are all well. When someone in our community (you can go as micro or macro with this as you like, it applies equally!) is suffering, it impacts our own health, and we too experience the ripple effects of that suffering. Our liberation, our wellness, our thriving is deeply interconnected, and when we support each other’s healing, we all benefit. Humans are interdependent and our well-being loves when we remember that!

Here is a helpful graphic to understand where you land on the sliding scale:

Reil Well offers 3 sliding scale rates for In Person Visits and Virtual Sessions:

In Person Sessions
(initial/follow up)

$230/$180
$200/$150
$120/$80

Virtual Sessions
(initial/follow up)

$180/$130
$150/$100
$85/$50

*Any appointments not canceled or rescheduled 24+ hours in advance will be charged in full. This respects everyone's time, energy, and attention (including yours!) and allows for more people to receive care when they need it.

What to expect from an appointment:
The initial session is ~90 min and each follow up is ~60 min. The first appointment will be consist of a thorough intake to hear your full history and initial thoughts on how we can work together. For follow up sessions we will catch up on any new emerging details since we last met, and then use the most appropriate modalities to support you. You will rest on the table for about 30 minutes in each session, and have plenty of time for questions and discussion.

What to expect from a Virtual Session:
Virtual sessions are a fantastic way to check in from wherever you are. For the modalities Kate practices, she believes they are best suited for herbal consultation and formula prescription, acupressure and indirect moxa, and yoga and meditation. Virtual sessions are also an excellent way to follow up if you have been a patient in the past and are seeking some fresh guidance on an issue we have addressed together before. The initial virtual session is ~75 min, and each follow up is ~45 min.

We understand this pricing structure is new for most people. Please take your time to reflect and engage honestly. Our ability to practice in this way depends on it. We also understand circumstances may change, and significant hardship happens. Reil Well also maintains a few sessions per month for barter exchange. If that sounds right for you, contact us with what you are seeking and offering.

In September 2020, Kate Reil started a free community clinic at a church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

After reading about the pastor, Juan Carlos Ruiz, Kate was deeply inspired by his tireless dedication to his community. The church has become a major food pantry hub during the Covid-19 pandemic, distributing 12,000 pounds of food per day, and is run by an incredible team of volunteers. Kate is grateful to spend time supporting these volunteers and community members with acupuncture, ear seeds, moxa, and cupping. Getting to treat folks in church pews offers a a respite from the struggle for safety & justice and space for ease & joy to emerge.
